Inspired by capturing the...

spirit of scotland

Often incorporating into my paintings the cosy bothies that adorn these landscapes that I call home

About

In 2007 my family moved from Scotland to New Zealand for six years. Where we lived there, the houses were exclusively timber-frame with corrugated metal roofs. This experience gave me a deep love for the sturdy stone and slate of Scotland’s but ‘n’ ben’s, inspiring my art pieces and their slate mounts along the way

Since returning from New Zealand I had my fourth child, a little girl, named Noa. My work is signed in her name, which means “free from restriction” in Maori. There isn’t a word which could sum up my abstract and heavily textured interpretation of Scotland, the land of the free, more perfectly.

Hand Crafted Slate

My husband meticulously hand-cuts each slate mount before applying a finish that accentuates their unique grain, creating our signature slate-mounted artworks.

Picture framing

All of our picture framing, photography, and sublimation printing is done in-house by my son. It was his initiative and drive that inspired me to pursue my art and turn our creative dreams into a thriving business.
